A Russian file comes down to three acts: translate, notarise, legalise. Only one of them is ours, and the other two take longer than the first. Knowing which belongs to whom will stop you from thinking the file is finished when it is not, a few days before the deadline.

Three acts, three signatories
The university we consulted requires a Russian translation of documents not issued in Russian, notarised at a notary’s office, and states it may be made in Russia or in your country of residence. Douala therefore qualifies, provided a notary comes after.
On top of that comes legalisation of the original qualification, which depends on the issuing country and belongs to the authorities. It is counted in weeks, not days. Start with it: a translation ready before the original is legalised sometimes has to be redone.
For English, our own translator translates and signs. For every other language the translation is made and certified by a partner translator for that language; we tell you who before we start.
What the source says
Russian universities require a Russian translation of documents not issued in Russian, notarised at a notary’s office. The translation may be done in Russia or in your country of residence, and a legalisation procedure applies depending on the country that issued the qualification.
Before you order
Two steps are not ours: notarisation, which is a notary’s act, and legalisation, which belongs to the authorities. We do the translation and certify its accuracy; allow time and budget for the other two, and ask the university which one it actually requires for a Cameroonian qualification.

Frequently asked questions
Can the Russian translation be made in Douala?
Yes: the university we consulted accepts a translation made in your country of residence, provided it is notarised. Check the instruction of the institution you are applying to — they are not all worded the same way.
What is the legalisation they ask for on top?
It is the official validation of the original qualification, by the authorities of the issuing country and then by the Russian mission. It depends on the issuing country and can take several weeks. It does not replace the translation, and the translation does not replace it.
Who translates into Russian?
A partner translator for Russian, named before we start. Verbatim receives the document, coordinates, checks and hands over at the Japoma office. Firm price on WhatsApp once we have seen it.
